The Delicious Mistake
In 1975, while busy baking for Easter, Mom found herself with extra dough to work with. Being resourceful and not wanting to waste that “good dough,” she sparked something truly delicious.
What came out of the oven that day was an unexpected revelation – a crispy, savory flatbread that instantly became a hit among family and friends. Soon, whenever Mom asked her hosts, “What can I bring?,” the answer was always the same: “Those flat things!”
From Necessity to a Cinderella Story
The late 70s and early 80s brought financial challenges, and Mom's accidental creation took on new importance. Those "flats" weren't just a beloved treat; they became a means of support, blossoming into the first company to manufacture and distribute breadflats – nationwide. It was a true American success story, born from ingenuity, resilience, and love.
The Legacy Continues
Now, 50 years later, Mom is a Nonna – and two generations of our family are proudly bringing back the original breadflat, lovingly renamed Nonna’s Flats.
